Softball Speed Performance Assessment
Ages 13–20 | Santa Clarita Valley
Laser-timed acceleration and agility testing conducted using VALD Performance SmartSpeed Speed Gates, the same category of timing system used in Division I and professional performance environments.
Structured. Measured. Competitive.
Hart District High School Softball Field (To be determined)
2-Hour Assessment Window
Limited to 40 Athletes
$50 Per Athlete
Spots are capped at 40 athletes to protect testing quality. Registration closes at capacity.
Why This Assessment Matters
If speed is not measured under standardized conditions, it cannot be reliably compared or tracked.
This assessment provides:
- Verified acceleration splits (not stopwatch timing)
- Change-of-direction measurement under controlled conditions
- Benchmark comparison and event-day ranking
Objective data creates clarity.
Test Components
Home → 1B Acceleration Profile
Home-to-first is the outcome.
Acceleration over the first 10 yards is the driver.
In competitive softball, separation is created early. We measure that phase precisely.
- 0–10 yard split
- 10–20 yard split
- Total time
5-10-5 Pro Agility Shuttle
Change-of-direction is a measurable skill. This test captures it under repeatable conditions.
- Lateral acceleration
- Deceleration control
- Change-of-direction efficiency
What You Receive
Each athlete receives a structured performance report including:
- Verified Home → 1B total time
- 0–10 and 10–20 acceleration splits
- 5-10-5 shuttle time
- Comparison to published high school and collegiate reference ranges
- Ranking within event participants (overall and by test)
Reports are delivered electronically within 4 business days following the event.
Benchmark Context
Your results are evaluated against:
- Published high school performance reference bands
- Collegiate acceleration datasets
- Established 20-yard sprint standards used in competitive softball
All athletes are tested under one standardized protocol to preserve integrity and comparability.
Assessment Format
Athletes move through structured waves to maintain timing quality and efficiency.
- Overview of testing standards
- Structured dynamic warmup
- Home → 1B testing
- 5-10-5 testing
Two attempts per test. Best verified time recorded.
Location & Preparation
Location:
A Hart District High School Softball Field (SCV) (TBD)

Performance Facility Continuation
This assessment is conducted by PowerSource Performance Fitness, a Santa Clarita performance facility serving competitive athletes.
Select athletes demonstrating strong acceleration profiles, movement quality, and training readiness may be invited into the PowerSource Performance Athlete Development Program.
- Expanded performance assessments
- Sport- and season-specific programming
- Structured development cycles
- Baseline → Train → Retest methodology
Invitation is selective.
Assessment Technology
All sprint testing utilizes VALD Performance SmartSpeed Speed Gates, a system widely implemented in Division I and professional sport performance settings.
Athletes test using the same category of timing infrastructure found in collegiate performance environments.
